first time out with the gas motor(lewisville) and she really moves, maybe 10 to 15mph. Gets a little scary with any boat wake

I've got one as well. Clear Lake is cool with me.

What day was everyone thinking? I have quite a few trips coming up over the next few weeks that may keep me on the DL. I am booked with something every Saturday in April. I should be good for all Sundays except the 22nd.
Is everyone cool with Sunday, April 1st or 8th?

I'm free any weekend. I went to clear lake on wednesday and caught six along the shoreline to the left of the pier. Did not bring my boat and was only there for about two hours so it should be good if we have a boat tourney. Caught all on a black t-rigged power worm. Lake is full. The first two poles on the pier are finaly in the water..they haven't been in about a year. Another kid was fishing and he caught a bass on his first cast. Also saw a few people in a bass boat but left before they came back to load up. I actually did a LBJ medley over spring break. Fished cottonwood Monday and Tuesday and caught three bass and a gar. Lake is over brim level. Clear on Wednesday. Rhodes on thursday and sunday and caught nine bass. Rhodes is still a little low.

I did not bring my bass hunter on any of the lakes. Wind last week was too strong. Wish i would have tho cuz I know mnay more fish are to be caught. On each of those lakes i was fishing no more than 20 yards of shoreline. If we get our boats out there and work every angle of the lakes we could slaughter them. I think this coming weekend im gonna take the hunter out to Clear Lake. I'll post a report.

Just an FYI - Cabela's in Allen has a Predator style on sale for $650, I think it's 10ft, it has the battery box and live well, both seats

I'd do the fishing tourny but round trip is about 2050 miles... ABout $465 in gas, Damn!! I finally got to try out the rebuilt evinrude today. 1965 3hp on my Basshunter EX and topped out at about 5mph.

Hey guys, new here. Quick question.
We have a Bass Tracker Bantum 3x. Its 9 foot long. I've never used anything but a trolling motor on it and would love to try a gas outboard. Found a great deal on a Johnson 7.5 hp and I know these boats are rated only up to 5hp. Would the 7.5 be to heavy for this boat? Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

It's the total weight that you have to worry about.
Plus, the game warden if you use it on public waters being over rated for that boat.

is 70lbs too heavy? I wouldn't run the thing wide open either. I can't find any info on TPWD website about HP rating of boats...

Actually I think the 7.5 motor weights 59lbs, compared to about 45 for a 5hp.
