I've sat in the truck at the boat ramp numerous times waiting for lightning/thunderstorms to celar out before launching my boat. I've even launched then parked it on the bank then went to the truck to wait out a storm. Of course, many here, including myself, have seeked refuge at marinas to wait out weather. Do what you feel comfortable with but there is NO shame in being concerned about bad weather. Is your life worth losing over an insignificant club tourney, or any tourney for that matter. Better to be safe than sorry and live to fish another day. I would say go to the tourney and keep one watchful eye out on the weather. 12 mph winds are merely a light breeze and won't cause any wave problems. Good luck and be safe.

If you are scared of weather bass fishing is not for you. Just be aware of surroundings and use common sense.

I dont fish with the Big L around me, I was fishing Grapevine many years ago, it was on Holloween day. I was catchin really good fish, hooked into a 6 lb and my rod would sing when I lifted it, fought the fish with rod down and when I got the fish in I left and went into Twin Coves Marina to waite out the storm, Lightning hit the point I was fishin on, nough said about fishing with lightning around, you have to make your own call sometimes

Go fish. If the weather gets bad, beach the boat for a few minutes.

Like most said just use your head. If I only had 15 MPH last year in any of the tournaments I fished I don't think I'd known how to fish.

Go fishin bro..storm shouldn't get too bad. If it does..beach the boat. What if no weather hits and you miss the tourney, and the points for nothing.

That story reminded me of the scene in caddy shack where the priest golfs in the storm! Lmao!

The winds not an issue, I fish tidal rivers with several tourny's winds gusting in the mid 30's. The bigger issue is the t-storms. I would make the call in the morning, check radar and latest forecast. If it looks good go and keep an eye to sky. If nothing else its only 25 bucks
