Lost two in one day at Falcon last year that I'm sure were DD's. Got a good look at both of them and no doubt they were over 10lbs. One on a Football Jig and the other on a Flipping Jig in the bushes. I can still see both of them coming unbuttoned like it was yesterday. Made me sick but hey that's what keeps us going back.

Lost one when I was using a heavey ugly stick that had the rod bent over like an ultralite rod. It ended with a rattle trap flying at my head. then there was a 6lb'er that I had in my hand and was gonna get my phone to take a picture but it freaked out and I dropped it in the water. That's gotta be the worst one of mine.

First two casts of the morning on Falcon Lake summer before last. Both smoked 25 lb. fluoro. Next two were fish weighing 10 and 11 pounds. I think I caught 17 fish out of that tree in an hour.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

I don't know, because I lost it. Agreed, IMO the only way you can even claim to have lost a big one is you actually saw it next to the boat or it jumped. Anytime I hear someone say i never saw it, I start doubting. I've caught all kinds of species over the years and have caught at least 5+ big flatheads that make the initial run like a bass.

Lost one at Fork - in August, no less - while fishing with Randy Oldfield years ago.
Third cast of the morning if I remember correctly, broke me off at the boat (I hadn't changed out my 14-pound test mono, mistake I've never made since) with the DD-22 still hanging out of the corner of its mouth.
Randy said it was 11-pounds, maybe more. I thought the same thing, 11-12 pounds.
Lost one at Fork last spring that was probably pushing 10. Threw my squarebill crankbait when it got hung on a stump.
Lost one about 8-pounds a couple of years ago on a topwater popper while I was fly fishing in my kayak. Had it on for a couple of minutes. Third jump, it threw the hook.

#1 Amistad '06 - hit my bait and came right for me, then saw the boat turned back towards the tree, bend my Loomis rod so much it folded half the guides over which broke the line. Sounded like a gun went off. Never saw it but totally kicked my butt.
#2 Lake Guerrero '90s - hit in 20ft+ of water, came straight to the top and threw my jig. Biggest bass I or my partners have ever seen then or since.

When I first moved here a friend and his dad took me to fork. I was throwing a red rattle trap and hooked up on a monster. She jumped about 4 times and I finally got her to the boat, my friend was trying to net her and missed her but cuaght the front treble hook of the rattle trap in the net. One head shake and she was gone. I will never forget it. She was probably 10-11 pounds.

I have had my fair share of heartbreakers, but my wife last year had the day of her life and the only thing we talk about is the one that didnt find the net. First thing in the morning she boated this 9.8 weighed by Tgutie that posts here (our scales died that morning) She thought it was a sure DD and he first ever, but came up just shy. We drove back to our spot after weighing the fish and she proceeded to boat 5 more fish that were in the 8-11 lb range. (not going to run back to Tgutie and interupt them again....they were two creeks away) We go back to the dock and pick up my dad. About 3 casts later after returning she caught the biggest fish I have ever seen and she did a heck of a job fighting this monster, but the spinning reel combo didnt have enough in it to keep the fish from wrapping around the trolling motor and gone. I literally think about that fish everyday...lol.

when I moved to my new house, I had my 8 lb skin mount from 1982 in a box that was misplaced, so thats gotta be the biggest I ever really lost, I have had some on the line bigger that got away but they were never really in my possession so I didn't really lose them.

I lost a giant at Oak Creek last year, pulled like nothing I've caught before. I'm a big dude and I got whipped. Lost another DD a few years ago at fork during the summer, I've never seen a shadow that big before.
Guess who's back Back Again RD's back Tell your friends
