I caught this in a pond in Allen, TX. I wasn't sure if it was a blue or channel. I caught it while fishing for bass with 1/6 ounce rooster tail. Talk about being surprised I thought caught a monster bass. I measured it at 31" had to be close to 10 pounds.

Caught this one today. Didnt measure but she weighed 8.1. I think she was around 27"

World record channel catfish isn't a channel catfish it's a blue catfish mistakenly recorded as a channel catfish.

Picture of the world record Channel Cat. I have tried to count the Anal rays up to 30 every way I can and I just cannot get there. It appears to be a channel the anal fin looks to be a little rounded versus straight but heck the picture is from 1964 I think.

The record was caught in 1964. I don't believe that is a pic of the record, even though it is on several websites. The record was caught in 1964, and the cars in the background appear to be middle 1950's with a 1956 Chevy being the newest.

I know there are certainly big channels out there... My point being is that the channel cat big fish is a heck of a lot harder to obtain than the blue cat big award. I have caught 10 fish this year that would have certified as big fish.

By the way... I just assumed the big fish award was a one time per a species...does anyone know if that is true?
