I trolled by yesterday when they were back out to tow it back to the state park. They had someone in another boat to tow them back. Had attached plastic barrel jugs around the boat to keep it up and were hand bailing.(it looked like the orca before it went down fighting jaws!) Said they had it under control and didn't need any help. they headed out of there under tow at about 2:30 i guess. Said the hole in the bottom was about the size of a trashcan lid. Bad deal. Ray Bob is a dangerous place right now. So many stumps just under the surface. Harder to move around there than at Fork right now.
PM me to let me know how it was!

They must have hit that stump hard...
So they were west of the island, between the island and the tree line?

If they were coming out, how the hell were they going fast enough there to put a trashcan lid sized hole in the hull?

If he was running on plane in that location shown above, I don't feel sorry for him. Too shallow and too close to stumps.

Will never go on plane in roberts in any area that has trees, and this is why the boat will stay at idle. couple years we were following a guy up the "channel" of roberts and saw his motor kick up with the bottom of the motor clear out of the water. To dangerous to run wide open on that lake. trolled over a ton of HUGE stumps out there a couple weeks ago.

WOW, the channel is sometimes the worst place to run on plane. Big trees grow along creek channels prior to the lake filling up due to water availablity.
I like going out to areas lakes when they're way down to make mental notes in my mind just for this reason.

Here is a sad story: Met a guy from Nebraska on Fork this week. He and a buddy were there on vacation for a week to fish Fork. Day 1 was following a "local" through a stump field and blew lower unit off - on day 1. Said was hoping to have it back by day 3. That really $ucks.
With these lake levels going down then up, I don't feel safe anywhere. Almost pee'd myself yesterday up in Indian going on my "safe" trail only to see a hole puncher fly by me about 2 feet from the boat.
PM me to let me know how it was!
