Started my gar fishing season with a 46 inch 16-pound personal best and a 43.5 inch 12-13 pounder. Caught in abnormal conditions; 70-degree-even weather and mostly clouy skies. It seems as though the season has started relatively early for me.

Congrats young man. That's a big, but ugly fish. Saw one on LBJ yesterday that was at nearly 6'long. Swam right along my boat. Good luck in the rest of the year.

Thanks, guys. I caught it on a chunk of mullet I cast netted out of the canal along the edge of the pond. It is a golf course pond,which is why it is so well mainained
