Somebody was asking about AT&T cell coverage. I'll second the other reply. It didn't work at the river, but did work at the top of the hill. Actually I got some spotty reception at the river, but not enough to make a call, only enough to text.

Thinking about going up there sometime this week.
You can catch from the bank right? Just want to make sure before I make the drive

Yes, you can bank fish, and you'll catch some. But, it's definitely more productive if you have waders and can be mobile.

Since fishing is a sport, I guess that makes us athletes...

Thanks, wading won't be a problem

I went out yesterday afternoon for a few hours of fishing at the park. I caught 3 in about 10 minutes, all males. Then didn't catch anything the rest of the afternoon. I didn't see anyone else catch any fish while I was there, although I did see a couple of guys get out of the water with a few on their stringers.

There were quite a few fisherman by the boat ramp all lined up.

Fishin' Fool

My dad is there camping. He said that the fishing was good until Sunday. Yesterday, there were very few fish being caught. Water had muddied up from the recent rain. If it will clear by the weekend, it should get better. There has not been any reports of females being caught yet.

If I go I was going to stay at Barefoot Campground, does anyone know if the fish go that far downriver. I'm taking my 12 yo daughter, so I really wanted to get her on some fish.

Barefoot is upstream from the Park, correct? If its near Sulpher camp, then it is, and my guess is they wouldnt be up that far. As I stated earlier, I was at CBSP for only one night and everyone was doing great up until monday, and thats when the latest muddy water came through raising the water to almost 2000cfs, but now its dropping back down, so Im thinking by next weekend they should be back in full swing at the Park, and maybe within a couple weeks the females ought to show up. I just dont think theyll be all teh way upstream to Barefoot. But its an easy drive just to drive to the Park and back from your camp.

Thanks for the info. I think I will wait a couple weeks and then head that way and hopefully get into some females.

Went today because I had the time. It was my first trip. Lesson for the day when you put in at the ramp go upstream, I spent most the day downstream from the ramp and caught 2 keepers and 2 shorts for 8 hours. Then went upstream from the ramp and caught 7 keepers in about an hour. If I had started there probably could have scratched a limit in a day. Most caught on grey rooster tail, one on chartreuse roadrunner. Only one fish I would call a good solid fish others were on the thin side, lost one healthy fish at the kayak. All males.

Other folks caught fish on chartreuse rooster tail type spinner and couple tubers had good stringers fishing a small jig under a slip bobber, some fly fisherman caught a few.

Saw some really large fish spawning in the same manner whites do, carp maybe? Would be cool if they were stripers, but that is very unlikely.

Several folks had a few crappie and or catfish.

Thanks to the folks who sent me PMs and helped me out. Planning on going back Saturday morning if it doesnt rain and muddy the water back up.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

Not for ten days are more. Less than 20% chances through the weekend going up to 40% Monday and 60% Monday night. River is off colored and back to normal here in Mills county.
