I asked this question in another forum on TFF and got a few responses but, I'm looking for more. I'm going to ask here because bass fishing is my passion.
Has anyone tried a Ambassadeur 4500/4600 reel on the Veritas rod? At one point, I thought to have seen or read that these rods were specifically designed for the Revo Series of reels. The ergonimics of this combination is a concern. I own a couple of low-profile reels but a majority of my fishing is done with the old round Ambassadeurs.
Any thoughts? Thanks

I can't stand the old round profile reels anymore. I started fishing with Ambassadeurs and then got a couple of shimano calcuttas and now I have to have a low profile in my hands. I think you get better feel with more of your hand on the reel. In regards to Veritas, I have 2 with a BPS carbonlite on one and an old Shimano Chronarch MG on the other. I love them both.
PM me to let me know how it was!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

All low-profile reels so far. I know someone out there has tried one with an old round reel. Might be very uncomfortable!
I've had my eye on a Veritas 7ft medium for small crankbaits for a while. I've been using an old Ambassadeur 4500 for casting lures that are 1/8 to 1/2 oz on a 6ft 6in Castaway rod. Love the reel and not willing to give it up. Casts great into the wind! Just wanting a new rod!

Stx or premier. Not many people throw the old round reels any more.

I put a lews on mine. The reel seat setup on that rod almost forces you to palm the reel and could see where this will cause some comfort issues. But then again there are 8th grade girls with bigger hands than me. If your hands are big enough to palm a 4600 you shouldn't have an issue.

I still use my old Shimano Cardiff 300, I do like the lower profile reels, but until the money is right ill keep that one in action.

If you go into academy or somewhere, grab the rod and take it to the reel counter. 9 times out of 10 they will let you put the reel in the seat and play with it to make sure you like it.
