I hope the circus leaves town now that spring break is over. I'm pumped and ready to get out there.

What did you catch the reds & stripers on?

I finally made it out there yesterday afternoon. It turned out to be a nice day.

We bank fished from noon til 6pm and caught 6 kitties. OK, well my girlfriend caught the fish. I tied hooks, baited hooks, & cast the lines out. She reeled everything in. Her catch/ her fish. LOL

I'll/we'll be back again. Hopefully in a boat next time. I want to get out on the wall and catch some big blues.

We caught this strange looking fish. It sure is scary looking. Hard shell and rough scales. It looks prehistoric. It looks like a algea eater you could put in your aquarium only bigger.

Anyone know what this fish is?

Thx TuN3r. It sure is ugly.

I could handle some slot reds. I have my catfishing tackle that I mainly use at Cali. 15 to 20 lb test on 7ft rods is all I use on that.

I guess I'd need to bring at least 25/30lb test line? Or maybe put some braided line on my catfish gear. Just in case I hang a bull?

What do you catch oversized reds on? What is the min/max keeper Redfish size limit at Cali? 20" to 28" like saltwater reds?

It's actually a Sailfin Catfish. I caught quite a few with the cast net.

i caught that 19lber above on my low profile reel with 12lb test, just gotta know how to fight a fish, the limit is 20" and above no maximum and 3 a day per person.

Thx for the info & advice on the sizes fishfearme.

I'm pretty good at setting my drag when fighting a big fish w/small line & light tackle. My girlfriend isn't though. She'll just start cranking away while the fish is stripping the line off.
She is a hoot when she gets hooked up. She gets scared when the fish starts pulling hard. She starts yelling for my Help. I usually ask her... "who is bigger, you or the fish?" After that she'll settle down and fight it.

LOL

Tuner is right, it's a pleco, or properly named plecostomus. It IS one of those sucker fish that you put in a fish tank.
