I'd say Palestine, but it's been closed for a long time...

I'd start at Cedar Creek and check guide Chuck Rollin's livewell compartments. Should be a few choice slabs floppin' around in em'.....

For pure size give me Lake Fork.

that's tough naming out the best lake for crappie in Texas so I'm just going to name out the ones I think are the best lakes in Texas and this is not in order

Lake Fork
Toledo Bend
Palestine
Sam Rayburn

Tawakoni,catching a 2lb crappie there is normal.

If you wanna stay close to home, (and since Palestine is closed ) I've seen some real toads on here come out of Texoma.

Ok these were the lakes I was thinking about. I'll have to look into Navarro mills I've never heard of it. And I know it will take a while to catch a trophy crappie but that just gives me an excuse to fish more

Palestine (closed most of time, but when fishing pass is obtainable, it's hard to beat...heheheh)

Cedar Creek (very common lake)
Benbrook (this lake has some size to its slabs)

All and all, if I must choose one, it's still TWKN!

I would have to say Lake Palestine, but I am bias lol I live on it!

Just got back from fork caught my limit everyday and caught at least two slabs everyday....last day caught 11 all about 2#.

It is all about fork for me hit the shallows in the spring and the the bridge pillers the rest of the year and it is only a matter of time.

How is the water level on Lake Conroe?

Don't underestimate Lake Waco, have caught a 2+# with a speed craw on a paydirt jighead

I'm game whenever you wanna go!!! Gonna have to restock the Hittman jigs before we go. Maybe get some made w/ that special TWKN hook for the big ins.

i didnt see whitney on the list where ive caught some barn door slabs...but living at fork i cant see wasting time fishing any other lake....IMO

Lmfao your right daddy Paul has Ben putting a whopping on me for years but I'm not scared and ill taking that beating everyday if u can just catch a fish like that.

Haven't been there in years but Aquilla was at one time a beast for slabs. Those big brushpiles held a ton of big crappie and an occasional bass.

How about this one that has crappie. Dam it is it all about size?
I ate an crappie that is just over the 10In and well it tasted good!

Why is Palestine closed

It's a running joke.... Pepop controls the flow of fishermen in lake Palestine.... and we all respect that it is closed!....We all have to sneak in to fish there.

Lake Arrowhead in North Texas has always been great to me, though it is one of the only ones close by but I never do bad there. Tear up the crappie during the spawn and a easy lake to find late season (post-spawn) crappie. Sizes vary from the basic under limit to some monsters that get pulled out now and then.

No one mentioned Murvaul...Heck of a lake for everything. Well other than whites or strippers. Always catch 2+lbers under our pier.

I would say Navarro Mills by FAR. In 2009 they caught 106 2 pounders off the barge alone. Havent seen the hogs yet that shallow this year though! And Fork too!

Palestine, Toledo Bend, Murvaul, and Nacogdoches. Caught some slabs off all of them. Palestine being my favorite, but y'all don't worry, I have my pass locked in my boat.
