Well the wife finally said she wants to go fishing with me. What was it like for you guys the first time you took the wife fishing?

Mine caught three fish in about five minutes, decided it was easy and got her book out for the rest of the day.

The very first time was probably one of the most entertaining moments in history. From the begining her asking how do you know when a bass bites, all I said is you will know. 5 seconds later I here a shreak and turn around she was choked up on the rod headed for the front deck pole doubled. I told her to start cranking the reel because she's gonna run out of dry surface to run on soon. Second was later fishing down a line of reeds when she discovered a water moccassin trying to get in the back of the boat. You guessed it shreak and headed for the front deck. Over all after 26 years she's done very good and can even back the trailer down the ramp if no one is looking, best company I could wish for not to mention alot better looking partner than some of the guys I've fished with.

Mine was the first girl I had ever fished with that didnt talk my leg off, I asked her why, and she said that she learned to fish with her Grandaddy, and he said that you had to be quiet when fishing. THANK YOU GRANDADDY! It is really a kick when her rod doubles over too. She always says "HOLY CRAPOLA" whatever that means--lol. We have great fun!
Life is short. Do what you like, like what you do.

My wife tags along with me 3-4 times a year and I enjoy it. She doesnt gripe and has never made me get off the water before I was ready...and she never complains about me fishing or hunting.

I cannot take my current first lady fishing with me yet if I want to catch any fish due to the fact that she has a huge boat fetish. Im hoping she will get over it befor I trade her in on a newer model.

Took mine, got on the water at 7:00 pm and fished all night, she never complained. About 6:30 in the morning she decided to pick the rod back up and on her 2nd cast she caught a 4.11 It was: BABY, BABY I THINK I GOT ONE!! I looked back to see her rod doubled over and it was stripping drag (I forgot to tighten the drag on her reel) so, I told her to keep the rod tip up as I tightened it and she landed it. I was WAY more excited over her fish than my 9.2 I caught about an hour later. But, now she doesn't go, she says I'm too hard-core of a fisherman, since I didn't sit down once for 14 hours. That's ok, cause I like to have time to myself to do my man things.

When I started taking the misses fishing we started minnow fishing. Straight down over the side of the boat. Gradually got in to bass fishing and spent several afternoons in the yard learning to cast a bait casting reel. She mastered it some what . She is the best partner I have ever had. We eat well when she goes . Nothing like a picnic while you are fishing.
Not long after I was prefishing for tournament a few weeks away and found some good fish. There was an open tourney the next day and my partner did not want to go. I took her and we won!!! We have fished C.A.S.T. now for 8 yeras and only fish other tournaments every once in awhile. Money has been tight and I gave her the option of not fishing this year. The next day she came home and said she could not think of us not fishing. We just cut back on other entertainment

Put a baitcaster in her hand, tied on a spoon (shore of lake michigan) tightened all the brakes...she casted for 5 minutes, as she brings it close to her, a 24 in pike grabs on and she reels in her first big fish.
Second time out.... she catches a 4lb smallmouth
only thing odd is her technique...starts with her yelling "HIYA" when she casts... when fishing has been slow ill admit ive tried it myself lol

Fishing was real slow at Fork and had to resort to plan B on the boat. Been there - done that. But we won a family tourny & she took big bass. Shot a section of the lower unit gear out the side of the gearcase within sight of weigh-in. I was trying to flag somebody down for a tow & wasn't having any luck. She took off the chart tee-shirt she was wearing & flagged the next fellow down - go figure!!! She's a very good stick & we have won every couples tourny that we have fished here on Cypress.

Just be prepared to back the boat up several times a day when she get's hung up!
You will probably have to take the fish off the hook, (yes she will catch more than you) and put a new worm or bait on for her. I am just now getting my wife to pick her own bait, worm color and put it on herself!
Be Patient!!!

This is the worst part of letting your wife go too much. She has a 12.2 hanging on the wall and I don't.

We were just talking about it and can't remember the 1st time for sure but I do remember 1 of the first was in the south Louisiana marsh where we got into a school of specks and I spent the morning taking fish after fish off her hook without having time to even cast for myself! We had a blast. Don't forget to bring a bucket and toilet paper or wipes...they have a little trouble "hanging it over the side of the boat"!

My wife fishes with me a couple of times a week. If I can catch them she can catch them.
Started slow with a bait caster with all of the brakes on. Today she can throw most anything and catch fish.
If you are going bass fishing, weightless texas rigged senko is as good as it gets, probably watermelon red.
Eventually a bass will try to take it away from her.
If you could start her on schooling bass it would be easier for both of you.

I started mine out with a casting plug in the back yard, yep she use to get hung up alot but now she's pretty good. She even learned how to back up the trailerat the ramp. I try and teach her a new technique everytime we go out, the bad thing about it now is she looks at me and say, I want to go fishing, is my Net Man and Guide ready to go - I think thats me

I met my wife on fishing trip to the Platte River in Colorado fishing for catfish. Took her trout fishing in the mountains on our honeymoon; she caught the biggest brook trout I have ever seen from my favorite stream. She learned bass fishing and casting on Lake Amistad in the mid 80s. (easy to catch a few bass) She has been my partner ever since, 30 years now! Just start her off with equipment easy to use and put her on the water when the fish are most catchable.
God Bless and Good Fishin'!

We will be at Eagle Mountain Sun. If you see a red Skeeter with a bunch of ducks following us. That will be us. Cause she said she is bringing a loaf of bread because fish like bread. Hopefully she is just joking.

Have her back up the trailer while you're yelling at her from the boat.
