Has anyone had luck catching bait with a casting net at this location?

Still haven't made it to the hole. But my Son and I went in for an hour last night. He caught 6 and I caught 14. Combination of crappie and sandies. At one point we both hooked up a the same time. Not sure if it's a pattern but I've been successful between 4:30 and dark the times I went. Course that means you get to walk out in the dark. But if that's the price.... Almost all fish have come on a white 1/8th ounce Rooster Tails.

Also, there's been some threads about cleats and ropes on here. I am a believer. I've never thought to bring either. Pick up some cheap cleats at Ross or a garage sale. Football ones or even medal baseball would be best. Just be extra careful if you're walking on concrete.. And get over to Academey and pick up a $4.99 50' anchor rope. They have a metal clip on the end that is so easy to hook up to a tree. Between the 2 it makes the climbs down the banks almost a non-event.

That's still a challenge. Across from the old parking spot on 377 there's been guys pulling down the 377 embankment and parking on the lowered area on the East side. If you look you'll see where people have gone down and it's rutted to where it should be ok when it reasonably dry. Looked good last night. At the end of the raised road area, just South of the aforementioned spot, you can see an improved entry point for the old roadway that goes across the property. There's actually an entry point built for foot entry. This is on the East side. I parked there and didn't get written up. But it adds a qtr mile to your walk. We rode bikes in. As far as the idea of parking at the Bike park lot and riding a bike over that's a challenge as well. Parked there last night with my Son and started down with our bikes but turned back at the bridge. There's no shoulder and with any traffic it's just not safe. And on the idea of using bikes to access... It's such a pain to deal with them in the thicker areas that it almost negates the benefit of using them for the open areas. I sent an email to the ACOE on Friday floating the idea of creating a "Grapevine Fishing Association" that would partner with them the same way DORBA has with the bike trails. The focus would be on fishing with the first project being to improve parking and access to the West side of 377. If I'm able to get that project off the ground I'll be looking for volunteers to help improve overall. I'm a member of DORBA and have seen how positive that relationship can be. I could see an improved trail system, legal parking area, etc. Something you could easily take your family to. Cross your fingers and say some prayers...

Fished all morning... nothing. Spinner Baits, live bait, and jigs.

Saw a couple guys in a boat catch some crappie, but no access from the bank.
