I have a CarQuest gas mat battery and it works great.
The fish finder has very little to do with the battery drain.

no didn't get sick, caught about 10 sand bass, no crappies. my fish finder spotted the schools just never fished for crappie so not sure if I have it down yet. water temp was 50 to 52. I forgot to say this earlier, went to Cabelas and picked up a gas motor and a drift sock
Now I gotta find the spots there

I used a stencile and a black magic marker on mine.
You could just use black paint if you wanted to.
You ever see any gators?
Haha. Here's one from a couple of years ago in the Santa Fe River. I guessed him close to 8', but I used the zoom to take picture. I know they are doscile but I'm still not pushing my luck in a 10 foot boat that weighs 110 pounds.

I make a series of loops in the rope(about every three feet) and just loop them over the trolling motor clamp handles.
That way you can move it to different ones depending on which depth you are.

Starting to feel more like the ( Swamp People Show ) in here. I mean with the home made anchors and now gators showing up and all...All we need now is a weighted treble hook and we can go gator huntin'.... "Mother Fricker"==Troy Landrey from the show. Thanks for the photo , made a believer out of me...
