Are you getting a "no source" on the structure scan page? Or are you just going by the blinking light? According to my manual there are 3 possible lights. A transducer led, a power led, and a ethernet led. But my book says a green light flashing just means the ducer can't lock onto the bottom (out of water).

Is the HDS a fairly new model or have you had it for a few years? The book says it needs at least a certain version of update.

But to answer your original question, no, there is no set up. Typically when you turn the HDS on it sees the lss by itsself. You might unplug all the cables and plug them all back in again. You know just to be sure.

At first I did get "No Soure" because i didnt hook up the yellow wire to the red ppsitive wire. After i hook the 2 up that goes away. Right now i got a green light for the power, slow blinking light for the sonar, and a very fast blinking green light for the Link/Act . My hds7 is brand new and i update it to the 4.0 version. So do i need to hook the yellow wire fromm lss1 to the yellow light on the hds7 unit? Thanks

If you arent getting a no source then it's good to go. I would hook up the yellows but according to the manual its not nec. it just stays hot as long as your battery is hooked up (if you are straight to the battery). Put your graph in simulate and go to the structure graph, it should work. If it's not working one of the cables could be bad.

Quick question for Jason or anyone else that might know. How do you load sonar log from a SD card to a computer? Im guessing theres something I need to download but can someone give me some direction to what it is?

Thanks

You can see 2d, down and side scans on the sonar viewer. However, when you start logging the sonar you have to check the log all channels option or you will only get 2d.

Ok i got it downloaded last night and used it a little bit. When I was loging on my unit i changed my color pallet to the light blue color which was giving me much better picture than anything else. Now when im looking at it on my computer I cant find that color pallet. It goes back to the default brown and the only other options are the 2d sonar color pallets.

Map, he wasnt talking to you. He was referring to the sonar viewer post. Can you post a pic of your ducer setup. At what speeds were you traveling? It works best from 3-5 mph but I get damn good pics at 1 mph or if I'm moving at all it's pretty good. Once I hit 6mph it starts to suck.

You can't get those pretty colors on the viewer but then again you don't have to sit in the boat staring at the screen. It's also not as clean of pics, just convenient. And Dayne added an important fact about the log all channels option.

Thanks guys. I like having the conveince of being able to sit inside to look at it. Just wish I could have the pretty colors but I can live with it. I did see the log all channels yesterday and made sure it was selected but I wasnt sure what it was. Thanks for pointing that out.
