Pilothawkour our lake is off 2339 that is 7 miles north of Ben Wheeler off 773. I would like to arrange a fishing trip swap. I too have heard a lot about oil lake. Let me know if we can.

Have a lot at Callender and also have access to Pure Oil Lake. Born and raised here. Love fishing both. Callender lake year round and Pure Oil in the spring and summer mostly. Pure Oil is a hard lake to fish other times due to being so shallow, but there are plenty of lunkers in there. Callender was excellent this spring, but so far the summer bite has not been real great at night ( usually only fish at night starting in mid May). Water temp is still down could be the reason.

fishn, say hello sometime when we are at the Roundup...My partner and I generally have breakfast there when we are out in the country. Gonna be out there quite a bit the next two weeks....we are off and have lots of chores to catch up on before the weather gets just too darn hot.

Will do, I live about 1/2 mile from the Roundup going towards Callender Lake (if you go out 858/773) Been working down in Houston right now and coming home on the weekends. You fish day or night time? I have a Procraft 200 and drive a 2006 dark blue F-150 4x4. Will be out there this weekend during the day. Pleasure time with the wife and a lot of friends that live there at the lake.

We will fish either first light or from around 5 until just after nightfall. Too hot to be fishing much any other time. Good luck....enjoy the weekend.

OK, sure that I will since the wife has it all planned out and of course no fishing is involved (so far...LOL!). Anyway, if you have never fished the lake after dark you are missing a real treat. I got out of the Navy in 93 and since about 96 or 97 we do not even go to any lakes till about 8:30 or 9:00 pm anymore. Jet ski's and pleasure boater's have just plain took them over. We started night fishing for bass back in 81-82 and have never stopped.
