I guess I'm a wimp, It don't look like I'll be wading the points at Grapevine anymore. If my grandkids were hanging around the lake, You could bet I'd be gator hunting. To heck with Troy, We need Elizabeth.

Something else to consider the lake just came up 5-6 feet in a few days if he was in a den that would have flushed him out. I saw and photographed a snake in the same marina several weeks ago and it's pretty early for them as well.

NOBODY can gaurantee which Texas lakes are void of gators. I'm glad I decided to RENT lakeshore property(came close to buying it). I saw one in San Miguel Bayou, Toledo Bend.

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

I never get the gator hysteria. There are gators in every lake I fish. I've seen several dozen, maybe a hundred gators. We used to routinely see four to eight in one particular small East Texas lake.

A few years ago a friend and I were throwing at a log in the back of Lake Nacogdoches. Then when we got about 15 feet from it the log moved...

A gator is not going to swim up and climb into your bass boat. I think I remember reading that there hasn't been a confirmed alligator death in Texas in over a century...and maybe one or two in Louisiana. Every U.S. alligator death in the last 50 years has been in Florida, where they are everywhere.

Unless you are letting your 2 year old swim at night in the reeds at Lake Okeechobee I think you and your family will be all right.

The problem in FL is that people feed them. I grew up fishing the Atchafalaya swamp and have been around too many gators to count. Not once have I seen one aggressive to people. The only time I felt worried was setting crab lines in the marsh with beef melt for bait. But the gators wanted the bait not me.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Burn a Trixie Shad, Skinny Dipper or Horny Toad by it several times, then do it real slow. He'll jump all over it.

I recommend at least 65 lb braid but have caught 'em on 15 lb co-polymer before.

Keep the Lord in your heart and keep your powder dry.
