Cant tell you what to buy over there, but I can tell you what I would take. The right garage sale Levi's you can find here sell for $50 to $500 over there.

Nothing is cheap over there. Even the stuff made there is expensive. Better to look for black market stuff, but don't get caught.

I went to Narita about 5 years ago for my job(airline). I went to Green Street and had a blast. It is wall to wall restaurants, shops, and touristy stuff. Stopped by Richard Branson's bar for a beer. I went in July when they had a summer festival celebration and it was neat to watch. Apparently Japanese people like to eat smoked eels. I saw a restaurant where two men were skinning live eels and skewering them to put on a smoker. Never had the appetite for them. I bought two Japanese dolls for my daughters and a kimono silk robe for my wife. Their not cheap, but it is cheaper to buy there and bring home on the plane. The town of Narita is very clean and I was amazed at how nobody locks their bikes up at the train station. My guide said it was because crime is not a problem there. Go figure. I did eat at a popular noodle shop that caters to airline crews....cheap and good. I forgot the name but I'm sure you can ask any hotel personnel.
