I have an HDSI transducer mounted on the jackplate and a Quadbeam transducer mounted on the transom. My question is this, when you setup your sonar setting which transducer do you choose or do you have to change this setting when you are getting ready to get on plane? How does the unit know which transducer to use?

If you want to use the complete function of those two transducers, you need the TS3 switch. Then you would have to change the transducer selection in the unit menu when you changed the switch position.

The AS SIDB Y cable has a single electrical path in the wiring for one of the transducers connected and that connects the 2D frequencies of that transducer and disconnects the 2D frequencies of the other transducer-- no unit changes are needed with that setup. It is commonly used for a SI transducer on the transom and a shoot-thru 83/200 kHz transducer.

You could use the Quad with the AS SIDB Y but you would not get the use of the two side looking beams.

It splits the wiring to a second transducer. You need to select HiDef Side Imaging with the Y Cable. Only the 2D in the quadrabeam will be powered with the Y Cable. IF you want full function of both you will need the Transducer Switch not Y Cable

This is the Schematic of how the AS SI DB Y Cable Splits the 2D out of the Standard Compact SI or HDSi Transducer to a second 2D only like XP 9 20 Transducer to get you 2D readings all the time and at all speeds, when mounting the SI transducer high on the transom or on jackplate.

Wayne I am using the AS SIDB cable and if I select the Quadbeam transducer then I do get the side beams. It is just a hasell to have to go change them each time I start to move positions. From what I understand even with the transducer switch I would have to do this, is that correct?
Can the one of the 3 buttons be programmed to go to the sonar setup screen? If it can that would solve my issue.

Doug and I must have typed our posts too fast for you to keep up.

Try reading them S-L-O-W-L-Y, then look at the wiring diagram that Doug posted.

With your two transducers and the Y cable, you leave the Transducer Select set to HiDef Side Imaging.

You will ONLY have the 83/200 2D kHz crystal connected and will NOT have the use of the other two side looking crystals in the Quad beam.

You CANNOT select which transducer to use, they will perform as a single SI tranducer.
The 83/200 kHz 2D will come from your Quad shoot-thru and the temp plus left and right 455/800 kHz SI will come from the transom SI tranducer.

You said and I quote "You CANNOT select which transducer to use" If I go to Menu>Menu>Sonar>Transducer Select I have the option to select all kinds of transducers.

If I do this and select the Quadbeam transducer then I can see both side beams but side imaging does not show on any view. If I select HDSI transducer then I get 2D with side imaging and no side beams.

This means that each time I want to run, get on plane, I have to change to the QB to get sonar at speed.

Now to my original question can one of the 3 preset buttons be programmed to go to the sonar setup from the advanced menu?

I pretty sure I just have hd si transducer selected on mine and the cable splits the 2d off on this setting. I have 2d at speed on plane and side imagining and 2d off plane. I never change any settings and both work all the time.

The buttons can only be programmed to got to certain screens like si , gps, 2d ect. They cant be programmed to go to any setup I dont believe.

Neverenuff what kind of depth finder do you have that working on

Skeeterbrain, when you use the AS SIDB Y cable, the part that connects to the display will be recognized as a single SI transducer when you have a SI transducer on one side and another transducer of most any type (excluding a DI
transducer) connected on the other side.

I am assuming that you have the transducers plugged into the correct Y cable plugs, maybe you don't. They are marked for proper hookup.

You can have two SI tranducers connected and it will only see ONE. You can change the Transducer Select to anything you want, but if you want the unit to perform correctly, set it to the HiDef SI and leave it there. And don't change it to any other transducer type.

You will not be able to use the whole Quad beam transducer with the Y cable connection, so setting the Transducer Select to Quad beam is useless. The Quad beam transducer is just a Dual Beam 2D transducer with that connection since only the 2D crystal is connected.

NO the preset buttons are for Views not menus.

What is happening when you select the quadrabeam is you are seeing the SI data in the Quadrabeam Views...very hard to understand color side imaging... Leave the TRansducer on HiDef SI.
