I usually don't post much in this section, but it's no one fault but my own... here is my 2 cents:

16 yrs ago, I started putting eyes on all my jigs that I fished..
To each his own, and there is no wrong in tying a jig in many forms. I can proudly say though that the premiere jigs you see on my website are something I came up with for a long long time. I can't remember how many times back then that so many fellow anglers laughed at me saying that I had way too much time on my hand. They (friendly) criticized me for doing way too much as they believe that it doesn't take much to catch a crappie. And perhaps, they are not wrong....BUT,
(purely my P. Opinion) my philosophy all this time is: What is a single main factor when fishing with a jig to make it effective? To me the answer is: trying to trick the crappie into thinking that it is something edible and irresistable. Basically, we are trying to immitate the some natural preys to entice the predators (crappies). If you would ask yourself what are the 2 main food sources for crappies, then your immediate answer would be shads and minnows. Well, do neither of those two have eyes on them? If the answer is yes, then why wouldn't you want to imitate the two most sucessful food sources that crappies seek?
Although there are many more reasons to me that caused me to created the jigs I do for many years now, I can add another simple point. Most people would agree that the confident level plays a large role in how we present our lures. Bass anglers for years have tried all kind of lures and tricks. Many bass lures are normal to be in the $12 range, yet when it comes to crappie fishing, the myth remains that it should be a nickel a plastic tube jig. Sure, you can catch some crappie on almost about any time of jigs available out there. Nevertheless, let's focus on your confident level... If you create a jig that is not just inviting to the crappie, but also to your liking, wouldn't you jig it with confident? The rest is history...
(sorry for a long boring blog since I don't normally blog in this section...hehehe)

Bought some of the moving eyes from lureparts online the smallest we could get seems to make the jig rattle seems to help or give us more confidence.

You blog all you want up here CV....Thanks for the opinion. thumb

I fought the eyes for several years,as I did all the fancy painted heads, but it does make a more realistic presentation. Most of the ties in my box are still just ball heads, but the eyes are quickly taking over..

They look great and take some time to apply, but the biggest downside is they add almost as much cost to the jig as the head.

Haven't seen that it makes any differance, but to each his own. If you think they look better with eyes and are more confidant in jigs with eyes then use them. Can't hurt.
