I too have the HDS5 with LSS and absolutley love it. It is without a doubt a game changer for finding fish and locating structure!!

Lowrance is by far the better in high def detail. You can't go wrong with the structure scan. I have been using the hds 7 with structure scan. The down-scan that is part of the additional soft ware is what u r seeing above. Don't know if u have the option to move from 83 to 200 hzs , the 83 is for shallow water and sends back a more detailed screen. If u can overlay data onto the sonar page do it, u will b amazed of what u can c. Good luck, and pump the thump.
