I have been seeing a lot of advertisements for the Yeti Coolers, I was looking at a 75 qt for my truck and boat. Are they as good as advertised?

Waste of money to me, plus you have to keep it chained up all the time so nobody steals it. But my bro in law has one and likes it but then again if you pay that much for a stupid ice chest it better be good.

Oh and they are heeaaavvvyyyyyyy! Once they are filled it almost becomes a 2 man effort to move it.

I went with Brute Outdoors coolers and they have performed very well.

Substantially cheaper than yeti's yet perform just as well if not better.

Check them out, http://bruteoutdoors.com

I think I might have a coupon code for $25 off somewhere if I can find it from when I purchased mine

I have a couple of friends that have a Yeti, and they love theirs. The Brute box looks comparable the only difference I can see is the amount of insulation an the latches are different. I am also looking into the Engel brand coolers. Who would have thought a quality Ice chest would have cost so much.

Not me, but a new Skeeter can set you back $55k-$62k. Don't understand what in the he$$ this world is coming to? If prices are this high now just think what they will be in a good economy?

If they were half the price they want for them I'd own one. It would be great for float trips but you'd have to leave it chained to your ankle or someone would swipe it.

FWIW..Yeti is a Austin company and I like to keep my money local. They're great guys to boot, not to mention that their coolers are over engineered and tough.

Ditto. I'm waiting for mine to arrive right now. I'm thinking the Brute hits the seam
between the Mercedes Yeti and the Kia Igloo/Coleman.

Ok, I went with the Yeti. I had a $150 gift card to Bass Pro, so that relieved the burden. I went with the 75qt, it will fit under the lean post in my boat. I also went with the tan for the simple fact that it will spend more time in the back of my truck being covered with dust as it will in my boat.

They're great coolers...... Until you open the lid.
No matter how good the cooler is, when you open the lid you're going to loose alot of that cold air. If I were fishing down on the coast more and needed a cooler that would hold ice over fish for a 8hr trip, I'd have one. But to use as a everyday cooler with the lid opening and closing all day, it's not worth it.

Mine worked good for deer season and when I brought the meat home from the processor. It was more meat than I thought and had to get a bigger freezer, took a couple days to get the one I wanted but the two brute coolers performed outstandingly.... Of course I was peeking every morning and evening to see if they needed ice....no ice needed for the three days I waited

I think they are supposed to be getting the new batch here in a week or two.

I found that code if anyone is interested, 112FFTT, $25 off I think it is

I have a 65 quart and it is awesome. Yes if you open it alot then the ice will melt quicker. But when its closed there is no air excaping so it will still hold ice better than a regular cooler. Also, I recommend that you cool the cooler inside temp down before you add you ice to go fishing.

We have used them offshore fishing in the middle of the summer and they are outstanding. You can buy half the ice you would usually buy and still have ice after being on the water for 2 days

A freind of mine uses one in his boat and on the really hot days he will throw a few fish into his livewell and then transfer them to the cooler. That way he doesn't have to open the cooler for every single fish.

A friend of mine put it to me best, He said, " A cooler is a cooler, it's just a matter of how often you use it. If you use it daily then it makes sense to spend a little money on one that will make your life easier. Instead of stopping to buy ice daily, do it twice a week. It's not the cost of the ice but the time and inconvenience of stopping for ice more than necessary."
