Gorgeous shot

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Day 3 was fabulous as well, and we started at the Crusher Hole and took out 10 miles downstream.

Talked to Chris Taylor of Fisheads San Juan River Lodge yesterday, and he said the reengineering done there had really opened up the whole area above Texas Hole - spreading trout out over a lot more water and into the backside. Nice! http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/publications/press_releases/documents/2011/122711sanjuanwork.html

Yes, we went down to look at the improvements, and it appears that the wade fishing is going to benefit substantially. They've created a sediment holding berme and drilled deep holding pools in the river. The theory--the river is supposed to hold the same amount of fish throughout the year, especially during drought conditions and when the water isn't being pumped from the lake. Money and time have been invested to create the improvements. I really hope it works well.

Yes, Castell, Days 2 & 3 were spent with Jerome and his green salmon egg fly was super hot. We enjoyed our week with both Jeremy and Jerome. Jeremy freelances when Jerome doesn't have someone available to guide for The San Juan Angler. Both fellows are great guides. Will book with them again!

Beautiful. I have fished the river only three times in all my years trout fishing in NM. I always fished the water below the quality water, and once the quality water. Back then I was a UL spin fisherman. We have a store in Farmington, so maybe. smile
