All I can say is......What happened to that time of year when it got cold, the North wind blew, people "thattimeofyearIZED" their boats, and the fishing was feast or mostly famine???? This has kinda been like Forever Fall. I keep praying for another day or two without freezing temps, then I see the weather on tv and we have another week above freezing lows banana I wont complain, the fishing on Twok has been outstanding this Winter. SRA website has us at 4.06 feet low as of yesterday. We got some heavy rain last night, but it didn't last long. The ground is saturated and the creeks are full, so we have a real shot at getting full, we just need another good soaker. Water temps yesterday on the main lake was 53 degrees. That is about the warmest I can ever recall seeing the water temp on the first of February. This time 2 years ago we were pounding monster sand bass up in the creeks above the lake, but I just don't think we can get in them again this year.

The fishing has remained strong. Limits on hybrid and striper have been easy for the most part. Some days you just have to wait out the bite. Yesterday wasn't that great in the morning, but the afternoon turned on big. The fish for the most part are still out in the deep open water where all the bait is. They have not been around humps, points, or relating to depth structure. The best signs to look for are loons and pelicans. Then idle those areas looking for bait on the graph. Most will be below 30', when you find it, just idle until you start marking arches over the bait. Those will be striper, hybrid, and sandies. Best baits have been a Moe's assassin in various colors rigged on a 1oz jighead. When the fish are really active, I have been slow reeling a CocaMoe up off the bottom and catching fish as well.

Wanted to share a few pics of recent trips, but the first ones are of Ben Weston Jr and his son Ben WestonIII. These are customers of Joe Read's that could only fish Monday and he was booked. Ben the 3rd was home on leave from Afghanistan. He is serving on the absolute front lines over there. I had no idea of the daily struggle that is still going on over there. Ben and his fellow troops are in firefights regularly. They are living in camps and only provided necessities. It was a treat for myself to take them out. Ben has a wife and 6 month old daughter he will return home to in about another 6 months. So lets all say an extra prayer each night to keep our military out of harms way. And if ya know somebody over there, put something in a box and send it their way, they will appreciate it!

Great report Matt especially on Ben.... My parents were both Officers in WW2. I hold all the military in the highest regard. They are fighting while we are fishing. That puts it all into proper perspective to me. Prayers sent for Ben. I texted you the other day to ask. Did Doctor Young make it out? I hope so he loves to fish. God Bless our troops! Happy Fishing.

Another good day with Matt. Big fish always on the menu, and
Matt works HARD to get you on the fish.

We are going to hit Tawak tomorrow morning in hope to catch a few. Bummer that Matt is going to the boats, because we were going to just follow him around and do what he does. He is the man on this lake. Good luck at the boats Matt and any of yall or on the lake tomorrow, stop and say hi. Will be in a 24ft white Shearwater. Good luck to all and keep the rods bending.
