I would not buy groceries at walmart in fact the only thing I will buy is gas cards. When I worked there I used to find packages of meat on the shelves in hardware. I would take them to CS and someone from the meat dept would get them. I took a package of steaks up one day and was curious as to what would happen to them. When they called for someone in the meat dept to come and get their stuff I walked over and watched the package of steaks go back into the meat case. Now it is hard to tell how long those steaks had been in hardware but the package was pretty warm when I took it up front. We have found Brookshires to be just as cheap with a better selection and we buy our meat at a meat store. Also they may be putting better stuff in the tackle dept but I doubt they will put any associates in that dept that knows anything about fishing.

Oh man I wish I had an HEB close enough to justify going to it! My g/f is super OCD about groceries and makes a full and comprehensive list complete with the price she paid last time she went grocery shopping. She ALWAYS goes to wal mart but one day we decided to go compare at Albertsons. Wal Mart had them beat on almost everything. Now as far as the meat situation goes Im sure that could happen at any grocery store. Ive seen groceries lying around where they shouldnt be just as much as kroger as I have at Wal Mart and just like wal mart it probably goes right back on the shelf.

another thing you will notice is grocery prices are not the same at wal-marts that are in close proximty - my wife was told that higher volume wal-marts (waxahachie) usually have better prices and in fact comparing wal-mart in Ennis to wal-mart in Waxahachie (18 miles apart) Waxahachie is cheaper on alot of stuff...

We figured that out as well! The Walmart in commerce is a lot cheaper than the one in Rockwall!

We buy our milk at Brahms $2.79 for the premium stuff, buy our meat at Kroger when it's on sale, can goods/bread/box items at Walmart. Seems to work out for the best for us. Fishing section Sux in Rockwall Walmart.

Just think how much you'd spend IF you had more time....careful of what you ask for.. banana

Wal Mart not on my list of favorites...Waco Tackle, Academy and HEB get my coin...though I haven't seen the Waco Wal Marts' tackle section in a good while, might have to investigate..

I can appreciate everyone's opinion on this subject. Some of the people on here go to Wally world for some of there tackle needs. They simply don't have a good tackle store close to them. That was my main reason for starting this topic. Of course i have tackle stores close to me and Wally world. I still get most of my stuff off the net. To each his own is what i say. God bless to all!

I walked through the one in Kilgore this morning when I went to get some cereal (I will spend money on food there, my options are very limited for grocery shopping unlike fishing supplies lol) and they had in fact added to theirs as well. I saw Vendetta rods, Quantum KVD rods, Falcon Bucoo's, and Skeet Reese as well as some tungsten Strike King weights, Trokar hooks, and a bit of a nicer reel selection.

If you don't have a tackle shop nearby, it's a pretty good deal for you. Prices were all within a few bucks of actual sporting goods stores and local mom and pop's shops so I'll keep going there though.

Just checked the one buy my house and they had like everyone has mentioned the skeet's, falcon's, and kvd stuff. Noticed a couple of skeet's reels hanging up so I picked one up and turned the crank a few times and noticed the spool wasnt turning. They had another behind it so I turned the crank a few times on it and the spool spun. Already had a bad reel on the shelf brand new in the packaging. I actually own one of his W&M reels but its a little older version but it has never given me any problems. Makes me wonder about the quality of stuff that Wal Mart gets for sure. lol

Tungston weights with a decent assortment of sizes at the Cleburne Walmart. Better price than any other retailers I buy from.

Did you try spinning the drag star? People play with those reels non stop and loosening the star is one of the many things they finger bang. Go to Academy, Gander, and BPS and you'll find the same thing.

Not defending wally world, just an observation.
