I'm the buddy with the 3-4 Max series reels. The ones I have had issue with have had the issues right out of the box. Sent them back to Abu and now they work like a champ. With the Orra out now, I would save a few more dollars and go with it.

Ricky what kind of probs were you having with the reels Ricky. Just curious.

My Black Max went into the trash! Just didnt hold up over time! Revo's is the only way2go!

After casting and engaging the reel it would reel backwards. But like i said once they came back from abu they have been great. I only have a couple silver max and a few pro max.

I have the black, silver, and promax. The promaxx is by far the best fishing reel I have ever owned. It is definitely worth the money.
I have to find out that the promaxx can throw lighter lures better. The black is for more soft plastics and flipping baits. Do not powerfish medium cranks! You will wear out your pawl real fast. The pro is great for cranks r-traps and any fast moving baits however, you gotta slow down a bit with that high gear ratio. The silver is a great jig/bottom bait. Caught my first double digit bass off the bank at benbrook this past september with the
silvee.

Shimano makes better reels for round the same price look at them. I had 2 silvermax and a promax they all started having problems after a year

I'm an abu guy. I love my revos. I bought 3 silver max reels and they didn't last a year. two of them started acting up on the anti-reverse. I cleaned them several times and could never get them 100%.
For the money you will spend, go ahead and get an Abu Orra. $99 bucks, one of the best flipping/bait cast reels on the market for the money.
If your looking for cheap alternatives, I have been impressed with the H2o Reels. I just got two this December and am putting them through the ringer on my crankin rods and so far I like what I see.
As with any reel, you have to clean them regularly or they will stop performing well.

abu garcia = trash
I have had 4 Abu Garcias 2 5500's and 1 black max and 1 silver not 1 of them lasted 6 months
I will never buy another abu garcia product

All the abu's less than $129 are cheap!! Except the ORRA! I fish nothing but Abu but they don't have a good cheap brand they strip gears after a few good hook sets. If you want cheap go with the H20 brands academey takes them back 100%
