Aquatic and terrestrial...

The center fish is the definition of a redbreast by color, but doesn't have the long ear flap...?

What do you think it is?

The one w a redbreast in the center was my first fish in the tank, put him in last April.

That's because he is a bluegill. The black dot at the rear of his dorsal is a dead give away.

It's illegal to buy or sell native fish.

And the one in the middle looks like a bluegill to me.

I'd guess it's some sort of bluegill hybrid, quite possibly a bluegill X redbreast. correct me if i'm wrong, but i think sunfish hybrids are extremely common. my son and i fish a creek where everything you catch is either a Green Sunfish or a some sort of Green Sunfish Hybrid (they're notorious for out-populating other sunfish in creeks, thus fertilizing the eggs of other species too). but i guess it could also just be a bluegill with a little more color than usual.
