You went in there to get a power pole, not to get a downsized tank and a power pole. They need to make your boat like it was before they screwed it up.

Not sure about your Champion there Coach but not sure my tank could even be removed without removing the boat top cap.....looks like put the tank in and then built the boat around it. Mine is a '92 201DCR.

I know it comes out because there is a plate rivited on the back that says:
Warning, remove gas tank before drillling holes in the hull.

That ought to have given them all the notice they needed then......they owe you big for this and I certainly would not accept a smaller tank. Just my .02 here

They need to exhaust every avenue of either repairing it or replacing it with the same or similar type and size of tank. I think it could affect your resale value if you ever decided to trade it in. If this is a legitimate business, I'm sure they have insurance for mishaps. You might contact your insurance company and see what advice they give you. In the mean time, you could have them install the small tank temporarily until they came up with a solution that you will be happy with. I don't think I would settle for a smaller tank without some sort of compensation.

Call several dealers and see how much your resale value has been dimished and that's the amount you should get. Got a Lawyer?

Because if/when you sale or trade this rig, you will again be dealing with the none factory, smaller tank. And as you read, you see not many like that idea. Best of luck

You went in there to get a power pole, not to get a downsized tank and a power pole. They need to make your boat like it was before they screwed it up. Best answer you have gotten so far... they either make your boat right just as it was before you dropped it off, or they give you the PP for free, just my 2 cents.

Seems to me that four holes in a plastic tank can be fixed with out any problems. Wonder why it can't be fixed if, you can get to it you shouldn't even need to take the tank out.

If you negotiate a lower price or free deal - you will probably remove them from all future liability. I would pay them what was agreed and demand the gas tanks be repaired and warranted. I would be sure all of this is notated on the receipt. Also if this is a business they have insurance for issues just like you are experiencing. Find out who their insurance carrier is this year
If the business closes and you have an issue later I believe this insurance carrier would still have the liability. (The quote above is also true - the term is "diminished value") Good Luck!

They are responsible for this mistake. I mowed yards in college to pay for school and when I mowed over a sprinkler head I replaced it even though it sometimes cost more than I made on the yard cause they paid me to cut the grass and not their sprinkler heads.you are not being an a hole. They should have insurance for situations like this to cover the cost. Even if you don't use 50 gallons per trip that is the way your boat was set up before they messed it up. They should pay to make it right or compensate you.

As far as resale value, there may not be a lot of difference if the boat has the smaller tank. The main think is what is it worth to you. You have the larger tank, it was in good shape when delivered to the shop for work and now it has a couple of holes in it. They need to resolve the situation to your satisfaction. Also get it in writing and get a warranty on all the work done.

It was a accident. If they are a good company, sit back and let them come up with a solution. The price of training is expensive. Give them a chance to make it right. The only person they need to satisfy in this situation is you. I would not pay for anything until you have reached an agreement. Best of luck. Rodney
