Remember too....whatever bait you pitch into a bass' nest, if YOU remove it, the bass won't have to. So try and keep your tube, lizard, whatever in the nest until she can't take it anymore and she has to move it.

If they are finicky I can usually catch them on a floating minnow jerkbait. Just throw it out and Let it set above the nest. Thats the only bait I have never had one resist.

That is pretty good Jmsteele. So you have caught every bed fish you have fished for then?

I love using an 8" lizard. I found some 70 degree water today on lake Dunlap and picked up 13 fish 15"- 19" in about 4' or less...all fish are really sporting some huge bellies so it wont be long now...barring any major cold fronts.

The lure itself is not as important has being able to keep it in the nest and is a color you can easily see since most bed fishing is visual.

My bait is that they will not like that giant beaver looking bait that Hoodoo makes. I saw it at the Anglers Pro Tackle show today. That thing is big. They were sold out though or I would have snagged me some.

A white tube works great. Like everyone said as long as you leave it on the nest. White is easier to see and you can tell in darker muddy water when they bite.

Lol, I didn't mean that to sound like I'm an expert bed fisherman. But I've atleast got every fish I've seen on a bed to hit since I started trying that bait last feb. I'm not a big bed fisherman though. I'm sure there at many out there that won't hit it I just haven't found one yet. It's worth trying. I only tried it because I had thrown everything in the box at this one fish. After that I caught several good one that way.

White tube works and you can see it very well in muddy water.
