Had a few hours to fish so I took advantage of it. I decided to give Dunlap a try since the fishing has been on fire. I started at 12 noon and fished till 3:30 P.M. The bite started slow but picked up just before 1pm. I caught only one fish off of the docks and that was an 8" Redbreast. The tree lines produced a little better and I was able to catch 25 fish right up till 3:00 p.m. After 3pm the bite completely shut down. Could not even catch a small one. I was able to get a nice Rio in the 8 inch range, and several nice Redear the longest being 10". I also caught some nice Blue Gills with the longest being 8". All fish were caught off of the bottom using worms. All fish were released to fight again. The fish seemed to be scattered and a little harder to find. Still a great day on the water. fish

Still a nice mess of fish. The coldfront we got last night i thought it will scatter those fish for next few days.

You are 100 percent right "Tun3R". It is supposed to get warmer the next two days. Going to head south for some Creek/River fishing! fish

Nice going Chuck! Nice to see Dunlap still producing.

I was wanting to see if my truck would chug it's way out there this Saturday but had an obligation come up and after tomorrow will most likely be preoccupied with a new job during the week. Maybe next weekend if I'm lucky!

Hendo: I was just past the River Run Rec. Center. I was in and out of a Log Cabin helping a friend out. May have just missed you. hammer

Peyton. As long as the weather stays on the warm side you should do well coming here in the winter. However if you can wait until late spring or early summer you should do outstanding. fish

Also thanks for the replies. thumb

I gotta say i sure hated seeing all those BIG fish carcasses on the banks the past 2 days. Those are the breeders. Everyone proclaims what a great fishery we have, but it will not stay that way if people take out the big ones. Keep the medium sized ones and let the big ones go.

Since I was only in a couple of spots I did not see any dead fish. What kind of fish and how many? If they were caught and left to die that is an down right shame! taz

What kind of fish and where? If it is just some around the boat ramp then I think it should be fine. But if it is a lot up and down the lake then you might be right. I like the 7-9 inch sunnies myself. They have nice clean, white meat. And I will occasionally keep 1 to 3 lb bass(especially if they swallow the hook) as long as they are 14+ inches. I hope not too many are being pulled out of there as well.

I saw a bunch of them too. They were cutting up the big gills for bait.

Some people see panfish as nothing more than bait. Some fish think the same way as well.

Nice Catch and a good report as always Chuck. It is a shame hearing about the dead fish. I know for what I have been reading in this section you guys release about 90 percent of what you catch and have always released your record fish. I just hope this turns out to be nothing serious. Keep up the good fishing! fish

Nothing wrong with using them as bait just depends what kind of fish you usually use . I usually target small sunnies once in a while for big blues .

Sunfish tend to reproduce and grow very fast. That is one reason why there is no limits as for size or numbers. But to just leave a fish on the side of a bank to waste is wrong. taz Again I hope there is nothing serious taking place. Also is there any news on when the GBRA is going to start filling the lake back up. noidea The sooner the better! cheers
