Fished with Chuck at a new hotspot and it certainly was hot. I had lost my weight record for redear to Fred(The Rionator) and Hendo beat my C&R length record yesterday. Well I was just trying to get a nice one for the contest when this behemoth hit. When it started peeling drag(I was using 4lb test) I thought it was going to be a bass. When it got closer I realized it was a beautiful redear. It measured out at 12.75" length with an 11.5" girth. Official weight at 1.82lbs. Next on the list will be to try and get the C&R redear record back, lol. Another story to follow on the rest of the trip.

Thanks everybody. I think there will be one over two pounds caught soon. Hendos fish will get the Catch and Release record. I think his weight would have been a bit more too if the fish could have been weighed quickly. I went out just hoping to get one over 11 for the contest and today was incredible. Five of the fish I caught were over 11 inches. It was one of those days that unreal.

I totally agree with you Mike. The stress level on the fish played a major factor on it's weight. If weighed sooner it would have been a different story. Still two super fish and two super Records. Congrats on the Weight Record Mike, and Congrats on the C&R Record Sean. Two great fish for two great Anglers.


Side note: Both fish were in great shape and both were fat. The weight was not that much off. It will not surprise me at all that a two pound plus will be caught this year.

WOW! Another Monster

I know the saying goes "everythings bigger in Texas" but do you know how many people have been fishing most of thier life and have never caught one over ten? Here many of us are landing 10-13" gills. Crazy

Mike that is an awesome catch! Looks like it could go 13" to me because the lip is hanging past the metal tip.
