WARRANTY=INSURANCE. For what you are willing to spend I would think you can find a nice boat w/ warranty on the engine. I also would check out Mark Perry's boat. Already loaded w/ the "extras"

I have 2 buddies who both own basscats. They love em. I've fished on them and they ride real smooth. Theirs lacked storage but I'm sure they make them in all shapes and sizes. My dad and his friend both have Tritons and they are real nice. Good all around boat. Like someone mentioned earlier make sure and don't short yourself on the electronics. They can be just as important as the boat.
If you ain't first you're last.

Bought my Ranger in Spring 2010. Its 2003 520 Commanche with a yamaha 225 and came with an 1197 at the console for 17k. Like Red Ranger said there are a lot of good used boat deals out there. Be patient and you will find the Perfect deal. Warranty on the motor is always a plus. Rangers have been building boats for a long time and has pretty much perfected everything. The fishability and resale value of a Ranger is unbeatable. Like everyone else has said though go drive these boats to see what you like. I will be at Monticello this weekend if you want to come out and drive mine you can.
I cant dog on any other brand because there are a lot of good boats out now with lots of different features but I can tell you that me and my partner won a legend at bud light trail championship this fall and I wouldnt trade my Ranger for it or anything else at this point.
