Think I'll stick to using it on squeaky hinges. That solvent can't be good on line.

wd40 has many uses and I haven't found to be bad. All the suggested uses listed above I have used with no little negative results. One not mentioned is one I have used for several years with vcery good results.sprayed on knees, wrist and etc that are arthicic.Amazing. Going to try it on my fingers and see if it will help them to hit the correct keyes on this board.

WD-40 work great on braided line.
Spray some into a little plastic bottle and use 4 or 6 drops on the line in the spool. For the last 8 feet to your bait, put some on with a piece of cloth so it will darken the line due to fading. This way you don't have over-spray everywhere else. I use it mainly on my spinning set-up, throwing wieghtless and for skipping. It virtually eliminated the little ennoying loops you get from time to time with spinning gear. It makes the line a nice dark color also. (In the past I used a green sharpy when the line started to fade.) The wd40 last longer and it keeps its color longer. It also improves the castability on windy days.
I haven't noticed if it is good "fish attrachtant" or not. I don't catch as many fish as I used to but with less frustration.
I tried "Reel Magic" but it doesn't work as well as WD-40 (for braid).

My bro-in-law, may he rest in peace, used to use it for arthritis and as a mosquito repellent. He swore by it.

I would not spray WD-40 on my fishing line or my reel.

Don't use it on guns - it will leave a residue that will gum up over time. Gunsmith's hate the stuff. As a lubricant, try Rem Oil - much better.
