A heads up. TPWD PK is stocking the Trinity River in Fort Worth both today and tomorrow about 10AM. 2500 trout will be released each day. The stocking locations are Trinity Park today and River Park tomorrow.

Ablon is hit and miss. Last year I caught either a limit or none or one. Two weeks after stocking it was essentially dead. There are water birds there that eat very well on the trout. Kind of a pisser to be fishing,no bites, and watch them surfacing with trout.

Like I said, don't trust the schedule. Garland was stocked today, great weather but the bite was slow.

Missed the Trout Derby at Waterloo in Denison. Was able to limit out afterwards using Powerbait. Saw a number of others catching them on Powerbait as well! Today's Pictures

Went fishing at the Southlakes pond in Denton this morning looking for some trout. After about 20 minutes one of my polls bent way over. I knew it was too big for trout. While reeling it in the other poll bent in half. Two catfish  . That's not what I was looking for. I ended up letting them go. That was the first time I had a catfish take a trout nugget. Pretty fun fight on my ultra light rods. Well after a short time the trout found my bait and I was able to limit and make a nice dinner.

Well my first try at fishing the stocking was a bust. No Trout in Ablon in Garland, for me at least. Put in the can't miss rig discribed and nothing. Used a Char. color Power Bait, rumor was that pink may be the color of choice this year. Didn't see too many other people pulling anything out and there were a lot of lines in the water. My only hit was on a Sliver Panther I was casting while my other line sat in the water, but whatever got it spit it out and had a good laugh with his buddies.
Having soup for dinner.

Having soup for dinner. Give yourself a break on the weather conditions before you give up. Look for a light south wind as far after the last front as possible. They were stocked Friday so they were already settled in and hugging the bottom. The weather will be too unsettled for the next few days to be good trout fishing.

Fished Ablon all day Sunday with granddaughter. Caught seven between us, all very small. After rain all day Monday I went out 3 hours Tuesday morning. Misty, temp in low 40s, nothing biting. Did see a few rises in the middle. Disappointed in the tiny size, same last year. As for the police checking driver's licenses at the park entrance, never saw that - this year or last. Why would they care about who fishes a TPWD trout stocking?
