We saw that boat on the water at Decker Lake in Austin on the day they commissioned it. We saw it up on plane a couple of times as they were giving joy rides to suit and tie type folks. I did not have the guns mounted though. That thing is a beast and we never saw them truly open it up. They ran it for about 2 hours that day.

We were told by Boston Whaler that this boat could not be capsized. Wrong! The Sergeant running that boat has since been fired. It's a slow toad anyway. Not like the TPWD one.

It does seem like money could be put to better use. That boat cost a lot of money. How much with it outfitted like that, who knows.

Those are definitely M240 machine guns. I humped one for 3 1/2 years in the Marines, (M60E3 first 6 months). Some very serious firepower there. The M240 has a rate of fire of 650-950 rounds per minute depending on the gas setting you adjust it to. Fires a 7.62MM NATO FMJ round, and has a heavy barrel to allow for better cooling and longer rates of fire between barrel swaps. The barrel is hot swappable, just a push of the button and you pull the hot barrel off and put in a cool one.
