We considered buying it, the price was so inviting it was worth a look. As stated above the whole thing was in general bad shape, just plain neglect.. Honestly for the price $446,000.00 it was a deal if you wanted to invest a lot more money and be married to a business 24/7...No thanks, but I liked the real estate and it's location..

Pope's has slips but they are in rough shape. They have taken bids for repair to thier rental slips, and repair is scheduled to be started as soon as the water comes back up some. Their ramp is one of the longest on the lake and will be good for at least 10+ ft.

Lake Fork Marina 903-765-2764, and Oak Ridge 903-878-2529, also has slips if the water comes up. They are currently not useable.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll have to try to find somewhere that has usable boat slips and an open ramp. I want to stay in the Williams and Mustangs area. I'm coming if I have to sleep in a tent though!

I hate to see so many folks struggling at Fork. I always enjoyed the Cove. On another note I think Shorty's is open now.

Is Shorty's the old Light House location off Hwy 17?

Yep! Never been in there at all though.

I have not been their since it changed to Shorty's either. Actually I have tried, but every time I went by they were still closed.

Is it just the low water hurting things on Fork or is it the economy?

I think it is a combination of things.
1. Economy
2. Lakes like Falcon and Amistad have made a big comeback over the last 5 years and a lot of folks that wintered on Fork have headed further SW.
3. Low water, the fishing is still great but a lot of folks wont risk operating a boat in those waters.
4. Lakes go through cycles and while Fork still produces its share of big fish the 10lb + numbers are not where they once were.

I believe Lake Fork will make a great come back. The low water is probably a blessing in disguise. The shoreline soils are getting rejuvinated. When it comes back hopefully the grass will be allowed to grow and not be killed off.
The best thing we can do as anglers is to continue to support the business community around the lakes we like to fish, they need all of our help to survive.

The RV park did`nt come with it. I was looking at buying it when the guy from ESPN bought it. Joe Correl just sold them the sports bar, motel and living quarters. He keep the RV park moved across the cove and built a bigger RV and Home site spot. He also put in a big septic system because the pumping and hauling of that water at Fishermans Cove was expensive.

I sure hate to see them go under...we really enjoyed our stays there (When we could get rooms) over the past 7 years. I could see however the level of service go way down at the restraunt the last 2 times we were there. JC Outdoors is right...My son and I have gone to Fork during spring break the last 7 years straight. This year however we will be at Amistad 4 days and then on Falcon the next 4. Last year on Fork for 5 days I only caught 4 small bass and that was in March when the fishing should be fantastic. This August on Amistad my son and I caught over 120 in 5 days including a 8-1, his PB. If I am going to spend a couple grand on a trip I expect to catch fish, afterall I could stay home and catch a bunch in our farm ponds.
