This begs the question - what are our water resource managers PLANS? If your water resource managers haven't formulated and put into action a water conservation plan by now,,,,God help them, as the weatherman and luck probably won't.

The big problem right now is we need a real frog stranglar not an 1" every week. We need to get the lakes replenished. Sounds like a decent one coming this weekend I know we need but hope it holds off until Sunday since I am headed to the deer lease tomorrow. Funny thing about these rains lately is you never know where the heaviest band might be. I looked at NOAA this morning and it popped up last weeks forecast. It showed 60-70% heavy rain and storms at the lease and we got 1/4". Just 10 miles to the north go 1.6".

Along with fishing, my boat doubles as a work boat. I have it dry stacked at one of the local marinas just so I can get in and out of the water. I'm sure it looks strange to dry stack an 1860, but it beats being land-locked and out of business.

One of the reasons we are in the fix we are in is the attitude expressed here. Denial of the problem will not refill our lakes. And failure to start water rationing soon enough was caused by the area leaders not facing the truth. These little sprinkles we have gotten are not going to solve the water shortage. Jeer at the experts all you want. We are in a world of hurt and we will continue to be until the global pattern changes.

The "experts" also said two months ago that we were not going to get any rain until March!! L.O.L. Actually they said we were not going to get any big rains until the spring. These sprinkles we are getting now will not cause any significant run off. We have gotten 1.77 inches so far and it is still soaking in.

Some will make it into lakes, rivers, creeks, etc. I can guarantee you that!

NASA agrees in a report today that these rains are not at all stopping the Texas drought, just slowing it down; despite the latest rains, the aquafiers and water table continue to drop. Seems that the aquafiers require replenishments at a faster rate than these latest spots of heavy rains add just to hold steady. Most of Texas received less than measurable rain this month although small areas including Dallas Houston and San Antonio saw some decent showers. Little made it to many lakes and what did. did not help enough overall to be significant.

I think we all agree that we will take what we can get. Its been a welcoming sight to have it rain here on and off for almost 3 days now, no matter how much it isn't.......at least we got some!
