Schedule is up gentlemen! Trout Stocking Schedule Looking forward to catching the little missiles again this year. Will be getting the light tackle out with 2-4lb line. Superdupers are hard to beat within a week of stocking. Share your tips and your luck at certain places, Mesquite was tough last year, Prosper and Garland was awesome.

Irving (North West Park) was great until the trout eating ducks showed up. When I get tired of tossing super dupers I use the Berkley Power Bait (rainbow with glitter last year) I pull that bait out and mush some Garlic Powder in it and it really seems to work well.
Good Luck and don't forget to take some kids.

Is it neccessary to have a license when fishing for trout in the city parks? I would like to take my brother this year in hopes he will catch the "fishing bug" but doubt he will spring for a license

No if inside a state park. Otherwise, freshwater license and stamp.

I would like to take my brother this year in hopes he will catch the "fishing bug" but doubt he will spring for a license A fishing license and a freshwater fishing stamp are required for all trout fishing except in the state parks. The city parks require a license and stamp. Before someone jumps in and tells you you do not need a stamp, let me explain. When you buy your freshwater license a stamp is included. The price is $30.00 for under 65 and $12.00 for over 65. If you were born before 1930 no license is required. A few years ago we all had to buy a trout stamp for $7.00 in addition to our license if we wanted to catch trout. Then TPWD eliminated the special trout stamp and made everyone pay $5.00 for a freshwater stamp, which is included in the above prices. If you want to fish in salt water you pay $10.00 for a saltwater stamp. There are all sorts of combinations available at different prices. They are all listed here.

last year was the only year I did good on artificials, in the previous years for what ever reason I could only get em on powerbait. I guess the timing of the stocking prob had alot to do with it

When all else fails, they love CORN. Put a 12 hook inside one kernel and wait.

These. Or a piece of worm, corn, or Berkley Power Bait on a small hook under a bobber.
