Seen too many people , that retire, take the lazy,..Im too old for that attitude,...next thing you know their in the obituaries. My grandpa, was in his upper 70s working a 200 acre farm, up at dawn and could out work you all day. Then his friends explained he was too old for that, give it up, and that he did. Plopped down in a reclyner and in a few months was in a walker,, few months after that a wheelchair, then after a year in the nursing home, I got my first pallbearer job. Dont ever ever let anyone give you a number!!

I know some guys that are in their late 60's that still fish tournaments and are doing well at it. They may not be able to burn a crankbait all day or run and gun to 50 spots during the course of the day, but they'll sit in a spot throwing a t-rig and jig for a half hour before catching a fish but when they catch one its a good one. They do well because they are patient and know that there is usually a fish on the spot they are on and will make sure its worked over good before leaving. I would say fish until you can't physically do it. You gotta stay active and keep the blood flowing or you'll go to pieces in a hurry.

I am 68 and going strong. Will have shoulder surgery soon. Suffered severe heart attack 4 years ago, back in my boat two weeks after my heart attack. Never quit, fish hard until you absolutely cannot.
God Bless the working men and women.

Roland Martin is 71 and will be fishing the FLW next year with his son. I am 62, my tournament partner is 64 and another of our bass buddies are 71. I crappie fish with a 73, 76 and an 85 year old. The 85 year old still goes to the fitness center 3 days a week(he retired in 1968). GREY POWER .

[quote=kirbydog]Great answers guys, really. For myself, I'm gonna fish until I just can't anymore because its what I live for and can't imagine life without doing it. I say the only time to quit, is when it's no longer fun... Till then, keep castin...

I am 65 and I have a place on Lake Fork. I fish as long as I can find someone to go with me. My fishing partner (grandson)had to start back to school. I will fish as long as I can get in and out of my boat. Pray for rain, so we will have some lakes to fish in.

My pops is 65 and starts everyday off with a rigorous workout. I mess with him and tell him at 65 you are supposed to be walking his reply is " Walking doesn't keep me fit for bass fishing" He fishes about 3 times a week and will probably end up living on Falcon lake part time and he will fish everyday while there.

This is a little tough for me to write, but my grandad went with me several times last year at 94. Our dock at our cabin is level with the back deck of my boat. I would sit him down in the back seat and put a Mustang vest on him and fish for a couple of hours at a time. I lost my job in January this year and have not been able to afford to go. When I went to see grandpa on his birthday 3-3-11, he asked when we were going to go fishing again. I told him I couldn't afford to go, it broke his heart. He passed away 7-09-11. Go as often and as long as you can. I would love to go again myself.
