Dood, please keep up with the number of bites, per day,so we can do a "bites per mile" travel comparison with other lakes. Thanks FZ1

I was there oct 28-30. We fished ledges with DD22 and flipped trees in 8-12 ft. 65# braid in the trees and 15#-30# mono on crank baits and cr. Never more than about 3 miles from Veleno. This was before the cold fronts that have moved through.

I got down there October 31. Fished from 2-6 in the afternoon. Took a guy who has never been. His first fish was a 9.1. Fished all day Nov.1. Best fish was a 10.8. Fished half a day on Nov.2. Best fish was a 8.9. All our fish were caught on soft plastic. Fishing two half days and one full day we caught around fifty fish total. I have been to Falcon over twenty times in the last 2 years. Hard to believe, but this may be the slowest trip I've ever been on. That is how good Falcon is!

Good info. So 50 fish/2 guys=25 fish per guy,right. 25 fish/2.5 days=10 fish per day,per guy,right? I can do that at Fork and just drive 75 miles.

Funny you posted this. After the guy left Falcon He fished three straight days at Fork. He hired three of the best guides on the lake. They caught less fish in three full days of fishing and biggest fish was five pounds! And there was three people fishing each day at Fork. We only fished two days. Two halves and one whole. Sorry man but I've fished Fork a lot too. Not near as good a lake in my opinion. Too much pressure and too many white bass.

Thanks, for the updated info. I wanna go to Falcon, but it's 500 miles from dfw + I lose 2 days drive time, sleep in a Motel room, and have to worry about my rig. I have seen enough info to conclude that the average fish is bigger at Falcon, and I'm sure they're easier to catch. I'm just trying to figure out how many bites to expect. I'll probably end up going. It's just a long way. Thanks, again, for the info.

Numbers will Vary By the day.

Some days you can have 100+ and some days 10+....
Falcon isn't a day trip, But it's not too far to go for a couple of days.

You can be there in 8 hours...... So if you leave DFW at 0400 get to Zapata at noon. You still have a 1/2 day to fish.
Same with coming home........ You fish that morning and leave at 11-12 and your home by 7-8pm.

Falcon outfishes Fork by a ton right now......BUT, it will cycle. Go now while the fishing is still amazing.

With all the Growth around Fork right now It will Boom again a few years after it fills up.

If you want the Best chance at the absolute Heaviest fish Falcon can produce, then go in the Jan-Mar time frame. If you want numbers go May-August.

Well, you should go to Fork then. Think you can catch at least one over 8 lbs each day as well?

Well, not every day, but,FZ1 is a simple man. I enjoy driving 205 to Quinlan, pickin' up a Quarter pounder, fries, and a coke. I'm about down to the quarter pounder as I hit the Tawakoni bridge at 50 mph. Few more minutes and I'm at the lake. Fishin' is a lot more than catchin',to me.

Yep,that's the problem with driving so far to fish. You've only got 1 window,in which,to catch 'em. I can drive 75 miles to Fork on 6 different days and have 6 different windows,in which,to catch 'em,vs. 500 miles and 1 window to Falcon. I ain't lookin' forward to that drive, but I sure do like the look of all those trees in that Falcon water.

Yeah, it was tough this weekend. Couldn't id any real pattern -- all the fish we caught seemed random and nothing over 5 lbs. Blue bird skys, windy, and so on -- the fish are not as active as they have been. But I'm sure someone out there figured them out.

Feb thru October sure spoiled me I guess.
