My ex father in law got shot down over France in a B-17 and spent 18 months in a German POW camp.

Back around 1973 a plane similar to that made an emergency landing( we were told at the time) east of Allen at a small private airport and all of the neighbors got to go inside and check it out, I can remember walking through it.

My favorite of the WWII warbirds, though the Mustang is a close second. Was able to crawl around one years ago at Arlington Municipal and was amazed how little space there is. Looks like a B-17G, with the nose cannon (on version F and later, I believe).

Not trying to Hijack your post but I thought I would post these here. In the crew picture, my grandpaw is the 3rd from the left. He died several years ago. He was a pilot on the plane "Fast Company".
