By the color and its mouth tells you it is a male

No. The larger mouth is because it's a white crappie. The obvious thing that makes you know it's a male, is the spawning colors its in. I don't know if this holds true in all parts of the US, but here in north TX, the male crappie will turn very black when he is in full spawn mode.

No doubt in my mind, it's a white crappie and it's a male.
