bump for you guys. thumb

I would certainly recommend anyone that was thinking about going to take advantage of a great opportunity to learn from the pros. I was at cabelas last month to pick up a few things and ended up hanging out with these fine fellows for quite awhile. Had a blast and learned some really neat stuff. They have complete vice set ups for people that have never tied a jig. BigDave even taught me how to tie his super secret top producing jig.

Left cabelas that night with a handful of beautiful jigs and some great ideas to try at home.

We will be there. I usually arrive around 6:30 to get setup. I do have 3 spare vises and tool sets for those who don't have one yet. We tie a variety of different jigs and have a great time sharing ideas. Would love to see a good turn out this Thursday. hooked

Well Jerry it was a small group but we had a great time. I had a friend from the "other" forum that showed up and Fly made it so we exchanged some ideers and did some tying!

We had a few folks there shoppin that were interested but we couldn't get them to try tying a jig! Except for one young feller who was there with his dad shopping. Now he already tied flys and seemed real interested. So my friend Ed showed him how to tie some jigs and we gave him a handful of jigs we tied to try in the local pond close to where he lived. His eyes lit up and he was like a kid in a candy store!

I do think the dad is gonna be gettin some more stuff for that young feller to tie some jigs! Made the evening a very worthwhile event. Anytime we can get a child interested in tying that is a great thing! Kudos to his dad for lettin him participate! smile

Hope ya get to feelin better Jerry! That flu bug is making the rounds here at the office too.

Dave,
I really appreciate it. I'm also glad we had some interested folks. Bill must have been lost in that big nice fly shop. stir

Wow! Had our best jig tying night to date! Think we had 7 maybe 8 in attendance. Nice to meet some new faces and have some good fellowship.

AND, another child learned how to tie! Bruce and his son came by and that boy wanted to tie a jig. So we set him down and let him have at it. Did an excellent job too!

Didn't stop there as Bruce took his son over to the isles and bought a beginners kit (only $35!! That's cheap!) and some supplies to get his son tying some more jigs! Me thinks before very long we will have another regular tying with us! smile

We decided last night not to have the tying session in November & December due to conflicts with vacations, parties, etc during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. But, will begin tying again in January!

It was a good time. Lot's of folks and Dave taught us all a very cool jig that he guarantees will catch fish. Seeing a young person get "hooked" made the whole idea of the tying GTG's worth while. We'll get the holidays, etc. past us and have a good 2012 kick-off.

I would like each of you to mark your calenders and try to attend our Red River Rendezvous in January. If you ever had any interest in fly tying or fly fishing this will be something you want to attend.
