I emailed with general questions about a month ago an let me tell you, these guys replied faster than a light switch. I would love to join but would be interested in going as a guest with a member first so I can get the true experience. I have to convince the wife ya' know!

I would love to join but would be interested in going as a guest with a member first so I can get the true experience. I have to convince the wife ya' know! Back in the eighties when I was developing the Lakes of Danbury and trying to fill a large membership roster, I learned that the husband did not need to be "sold" he was already sold, or he wouldn't be there in the first place looking to sign up. It was the wife that needed to be sold, and it wasn't all that difficult....a little bit of coaching, a cast or two to the right "spot" and a four and a half pounder on her line, done deal! Problem was, we could always do a great job of coaching wives how to catch bass, they would listen close and do what they were shown. Husbands, OTOH, "already knew how to fish" and would be dang near un-coachable. At least up and until outfished by their wives.

As a sales professional I agree 100% to that point however in my case it is a bit different. The wife doesn't fish so there would need to be another value added proposition in there somewhere.

To me one of the biggest values is the fact that you and your wife would be the only ones on the lake/pond. There are no other members with you. When you reserve a lake it is yours and yours alone. Of course this assumes that mamma likes time alone from pappa. Some wifes are more than happy to get rid of their husbands. A friend of mine once told me he gets the "hall pass" any time he wants. In fact if you take him fishing with you, his wife pays $100 for the first night you take him and $250 for the second night.
Non fishing guests (your wife) is able to go with you at no charge. We have many wifes who go with their husbands and just enjoy being in the outdoors. I have met members at our sites and seen wifes reading, bird watching, taking a nap and one even brought her water colors to do a little painting.

I've been out twice with a member and had an awesome time. The lakes were great. Caught lots of fish. Even my personal best. The property owners along with Steve and his group do a great job of making these lake capable of producing trophy bass. Can't wait till I get my membership. It going to be perfect for my kayak. Hoping Santa's elves leave it in my stocking. Thanks, Private Water Fishing for the great fishing so far. Keep up the great work.

No refunds if you get shut out. However, it is rare to get shut out.
I saw an earlier comment about a $90 charge. So, perhaps that is why you referenced about a $90 refund? But, 80% of our lakes are $35.00 for a full day and $55.00 for all day per person. We do have about 15 lakes that are between $75 and $150 for all day and $50 to $80 for a 1/2 day.

Fish Fear Me may be referring to the 1/2 rate with one guest.
$35.00 Member $35.00 Guest $15.00 Guest Fee $85.00 total (close, but not $90)
Fish, look at it this way......You spend $400 and hire a guide at Fork for one (1) full day of fishing. You catch 25 fish (I think would be a good day) up to say 7lbs. You take those same funds and apply toward PWF and fish 4 seperate bodies of water, have no fising pressure and catch (In my experience fishing with a member) 40 bass per session. 4 x 40 = 160 bass. That is alot of bass catching fun! Keep in mind, it is still fishing and you have to deal with fronts, non cooperative fish from time to time.
It's all about how you want to spend your money fish! I've personally spent $1600 in guide trips in 2011 (Falcon, etc.),so Steve's deal seems very fair.
My personal opinion is that you really have no intention of joining, but if you do, let's hook up and go fishing!

Why would fish fear you if you're going to get shut out?

Good point.
To be fair, I do know someone who is a member and they have invited me to go fishing with them in the spring. So I do have my reasons to ask these questions. I hope you don't mind.
My problem is that I have 4 spots within 30 minutes of my house that I can fish for free. They all have big bass in them and two have decent crappie. If I decided to fish one of your clubs lakes for $35 to whatever, what am I going to get for the money that I can't get anyway for free?
The nearest one will be Beaver Lake, near Decatur, west of Denton.
What should I expect to get for my money?
Several bass in the 20"-25" range?
Bass in the 15"-19" range?
Thanks.

I have been fishing for a few years now on ponds and small lakes and sometimes it takes more than 8 hours of fishing to figure out a lake. If that lake is 50 acres with several creeks and timber you, uh I, would need some time to figure out what to do.
I guess if you were a bankbanger you would run across them eventually. Dumb luck would be a major factor.
I like to fish off the banks for fish and would need more time than one $85/day to find the DD's that you guys tout to be there.
Do you provide any lake maps?
Thanks.

If you have 4 lakes that are producing big bass and few if any others fish there; I think I would stay with those lakes and forgo a membership at PWF. Our club is designed for those who do not have access to much or any private water. And for those who like the solitude of fishing by themselves without anybody on the water with you. Most of our lakes have large fish, but setting expections is something that is hard to predict. The day rates that we charge, will be a great guide in determining the quality of the fishery. The more expensive the greater chance of catching larger fish. That is not to say our least expensive lakes do not have large fish; because many do. Your odds are less likely than that our more expensive lakes.
Feel free to call the office and we would be happy to discuss all your questions.

All the lakes I am talking about are public waters.
Sorry I bothered you asking questions, it won't happen again.

Steve thanks for the replies and helping educate those of us who don't own a boat or have access to good fishing spots. I usually fish alone and frankly couldn't afford a guide on a regular basis. Hope you have a good 2012.
