Not that it won't work... but an AMP will cause more trouble than it's worth. They drain your battery real fast. Get a top of the line head unit and good 6" speakers and with the speakers mounted into the fiberglass that will give your more sound than you might think. I've done this in my boat and can jam out. JMO. If you decide this makes sense, I will send you pics of mine.

For good quality sound going with an amp is the right way to go, it will extend the life of the speakers. However, those speakers you have picked out would not benefit from a 300.2 A 300.2 amp is made for subwoofers, this will not be worth anything for 6x9's. As others have already stated an amplifire will draw more current, but that is all realitive. Those speakers you have picked out will work fine with a decent head unit and no amplifire, but understand that infinity speakers tend to be muddy in the midtones. Here is what I would go with: http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cda-9886m/http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/spr-m70/

You should also check out the Kicker KM6200's. They sound really good and look pretty nice too. I am a little biased because I have worked for Kicker for 13 years, but I have also owned and listened to several brands.
One thing that is nice about using a 6" speaker is that's what is used in most boats, so finding a marine replacement is easy.
Look at where Zona mounts his speakers. This location tends to work pretty well for most boats.
I am not really trying to pimp the product, but I didn't feel that our speakers should be left out of the discussion.

A bass boat needs two pair of speakers...,one quality pair rigidly mounted by being recessed into the fiberglass and a 2nd inexpensive waterproof enclosed pair of speakers mounted under the consoles and very isolated from the fiberglass. I use tystraps to completely isolate the mounting of this pair of speakers from the boat.
Use the better quality fiberglass recessed speakers at the dock or times while cruising. Later, to not spook the bass, use only the box isolated speakers. I use the front/rear fader to change which specakers are used.
Bass can easily hear any speaker physically touching the boat, but they cannot hear any sounds from a box speaker only making air movement.

http://www.boaterbarn.com/poly_planar_mp3_kit4_w_79370_prd1.htmHere is what I have been looking at, all I listen to is my ipod, I dont need a big head unit for cd's and a radio. This is the cheapest I have found for this unit, the same company that makes these has one for $250 that has a Sub if you want to thump. Although a big system will drain your bat. faster than a TM, so beware

I'm thinking just flush mounting the 6X9's in the sides and may just get a good head unit or just use the amp! Has anyone hear anything on the Lowrance Sonic Hub???

The amp doesn't work the way you think. Hooking your ipod directly up to the rca connections of an amplifier could possibly blow the speakers. Plus like I said before, the amplifier you are looking at isn't made for dynamic speakers it is built for subwoofers.

And you can hook your iPod up through your amp using the RCA cables and a y cable! It won't blow the speakers! I've had my fair share of systems lol!
