Out of the $99 rods that Academy has to offer, which would be the better brand to buy?

Looks like there is:

Falcon Bucoo
All-Star ASR
St. Croix Mojo
Carrot Stix Wild
Skeet Reese
Abu Garcia Veritas

That's all it shows online. Just wanting to know everyone's opinions on which rod they would choose and why. Maybe good/bad experiences, warranties, etc. I am looking to get a couple of these in the near future. Thanks!

I like the Falcon Bucoo's. They are the 2nd lightest rod on the list right behind the Carrot Stick....and we all know about Carrot Sticks. smile

I don't have any bucoos but have alot of Caras and love them. I would be willing to bet that the BuCoos are the best 99 dollar rod out there.

Probably nothing actually..... I was just making fun of the TFF's penchant for knee jerk reactions.

If I were getting one, I'd get the Skeet Reese.

First off, what are you using them for?

The veritas are GREAT hooksetting/whooping stick rods. If you're jiggin, carolina rigging and flippin and pitching, then it will have the best rod for you in one of its lineup. These rods are WAY stiff and fast compared to others.

If you want to do anything else with the rod, I'd prefer the Bucoo.

If you're buying a general bass fishing 6'6 MH/M or 7'M/MH I'd put the 7'MH Bucoo, or the Skeet Reese Micro Guide "Finesse Worm" rod (it's a 7'M rod) above the rest.

I've owned rods from the Veritas, Bucoo, Skeet, and Mojo series.

The mojos are overpowered for their stated actions and heavy to me.

I have a Skeet Reese rod (Heavy Brush) and I'm happy with it so far. I have never used a Bucoo rod, but I do have a Cara and multiple Lowriders which I am very happy with.
