I came into a 1987 Champion 176 Super Champ FS on a single axle trailer that I am currently restoring.
I am fairly handy but I would prefer to have someone that knows more than me check/replace bearings and grease.
I am in Arlington off I-20 corridor.
Any suggestions for who I can take it to?

Satio, I wouldn't be too scared of it, the job's not that hard, just really messy. If your experience is anything like mine, the second hub will take about 1/10 of the time the first one did

do not add more grease to your hubs unless it shows to be low. I think you can repack bearings pump it up after a road trip and forget about them until next year. I salvage boats for the trailers, and if there are bearing buddys on them I know they will probably need new bearings because someone has over greased to the point where the seals fail on the inside.

u need to run down to walmart and pick up some bering buddies they are cheap and easy to install and u will no when u need grease with out having to pull the hub cap off good luck What size Bearing buddies would i need for my single axle trailer with 5 lugs?

You have to measure them .I.D. what is .I.D.? I just need the BB and the caps.

Inner diameter. Take the cap on the bearings with you and match it to the new one.

Question for you experienced trailer guys. I had to replace the caliper on my trailer. While I was working on it, repacked the bearings. I put the bearing buddy on, and when I moved the trailer the insert retracted completely. So a little more grease and same thing. Every time I move the trailer, even just pulling out of driveway and backing back in the insert in the buddy retracts all the way. It is like I have air stuck in there or something. How do you get the pressure to stay in the buddy without completely over-greasing? I did try a new bearing buddy and same thing happened.

Yes, packed the bearings, hub, put on the bearing buddy and pumped grease in until the insert moved outward. Once the wheel spins, the insert retracts fully closing the buddy.
