For leaders for fly fishing I like Vanish in about 6 lb for the tippet. For conventional I use mono usually Trilene and also use 6 lb there.

Thanks DD  I might need to give that one a try and see the difference . It works great in the winter months and prevents the line freezing to the reel or line freezing itself, if you fish in the cold like I do. Great in the summer too in clearer waters. I believe it would make excellent leader & tippit material.

I've used 4# stren and 6# trilene, and like the 4# stren the best; just need to keep it fresh.

In the past I mostly have used 4-6 lb trilene. A few months ago I got some sufix elite 4 lb test mono and I love it its much softer and has no memory coming off the spool. It was on clearance at Dicks so I couldnt resist getting some, I bought the rest they had after I tried it out.
