Chase or anyone else,
What size floats do yall use on the Santee Driftin?
Also, does anyone use a float on their hook-line section of the 3 way rig? yeah ... i do ... also i don't use a 3 way swivel ... i use a regular swivel & tie the main line & the leader to the top for float size you can test it to see if it will float your hook & bait +1 on not using a 3-way swivel, they will twist your leader around the 3rd leg and you will break off a good fish, I know, I also use a regular barrel swivel and tie the main-line and my weight line to the first hole on the swivel, and my hook-leader line to the other end of the swivel, also, I slip a sliding float on my weight line, to keep the bait out of the mud!!! Pics for anyone that needs them. Thanks for showing me this rig guys Float slides to the bottom when casting Float rises to the top when it's in the water suspending the bait Close up of swivel set up

The only thing I don't like about the SC rig is that if I don't keep my lines tight (it's hard to in a lil boat that moves around alot) Then the hook can get way up off the bottom I might start using a "Tom 3way rig" on more of my rods....

If you're worried about that stick run your line thru a bead twice a foot or so from the end of your main line before you put the weight on.

Do you have problems with those weights hanging up when drifting? I use slinky weights and have almost no hang ups, but when I used the no roll disk weights, I hung up a lot.

I do my three way rig opposite yours, I put the hook on the long leader and the weight on the short. I do that when fishing for channel cats at Bridgeport. I forgot catfishN8 got hacked. This is what they changed his name to.

Just like to add that after losing some 5oz banker weights, I've found that putting a snapswivel on the the weight (instead of tying the mono directly to the weight) might help some of you bankers not lose so many weights.....the weights seem to eat at the mono, but with the swivel there's no problem at all...... JUST THOUGHT I"D SHARE, for awhile I thought the weights were falling off due to the force of the throw, but it turned out the rough edge on the banker weights was slowly rubbing away the mono. Swivel on weight was the answer!

Ive got one more question for yall, about the use of floats on carolina rigs. Is that beneficial for bank fishing also, or just drifting? I see how it would be effective. Are yall using the litte slide floats or are they the kind that attach directly to the line. I have some little sliders, but I wondered if them sliding right up to the hook would affect anything.

Use peg floats to lock them about 3 inches from the hook to keep the bait out of the mud

With the Sante cooper rig, if your line gets slack in it and you are still fishing your float will try rise towards the top of the water, so depending on how deep you are fishing, your bait may not be where you think it is, if you are drifting or can keep the slack out of it you should be ok!!!
