To rod loosers' have lost a few myself. We troll alot with rod in a rod holder, after becoming aged and brittle they have a tendancy to break, usually when a crank bait gets hung up.Which sends the rod and reel flying into the lake.I have dropped a Shimano Stradic to the bottom of the Devils river at Amistad. They make a foam collar that works well for trolling .Has allready saved us money. It works well.

In 1973 I took the bro of a girl I wanted to know better fishing on Belton, he was a soldier at Ft. Hood and claimed to be an exsperienced fisherman, he threw a almost new rod and reel overboard. Never even tried to replace it. Oh, I later married the girl - one of the biggest mistakes of my life, I should have learned something from her brother.

Watched a fishing partner catapult one off the deck with a carolina rig one day. Couldn't fish for 30 minutes was laughing so hard.
