Was out there last weekend camping at Holiday. Amazed at what people throw in the lake. We guesstimated $500 worth of scrap material, brake drums, a driveshaft, wheels, countless other scrap. We going back this weekend to get as much of that as possible. Cleaning up and making a buck. Also taking trash bags for the other carp that cant be scrapped. By the way, found some good structure that should be good if the lake ever fills up again. Dont Mess With Texas!

We had a Lake clean-up a couple of weeks ago. We totaled nearly 2000 lbs. of steel, filled 2 big dumpster roll-off containers, and removed nearly 100 tires. It was a joint effort between Keep Brownwood Beautiful, the Chamber of Commerce, the Brown County Sheriffs Office, the Lake Patrol. We even had about 90 Howard Payne College Students come out and help. It was not difficult to organize, just took some dedicated people.
When our two public docks came out of the water, I personally took about 25,30 gallon trash cans full of bottles and cans out from under and around the docks. It's amazing how inconsiderate people can be.
But as the water is down, now is the time to clean-up. Good Luck to all. It can be done and it does make a difference.

That area around the discharge is really bad, im not even sure weeds could grow through the amount of trash I seen, not 17 bottles, but thousands.

Surprisingly, we only found a couple of lures. We did find- 1 prop, 1 trolling motor, 5 batteries, about 10 cell phones, 2 engine blocks and a set of dentures.

Where ever the water line is and people can walk, it will be trashed out there if it is public type access. The 515W beach was looking shabby several weeks ago.

You could organize a trash tournament. The guy with the most weight in cans and plastic. Most clubs have residual money for this type of event. Make it fun and participation could be used as part of your TOP 6 requirement.

There would be alot of cheaters , hitting up the trailer parks for a winning stringer of garbage.

If you think Fork is bad, walk the shore at Tawakoni where anglers hang out. Absolutely disgusting. The one that gets me most angry is the dirty diapers. What kind of being leaves them behind? They're not human, I'll guarantee you that.

I asked my neighbor as to what is up with the trash along our shoreline, he said it just blows in, with the waves. I have been cleaning every visit, we are over twenty garbage bags. The last time out a big yellow buoy, two car batteries and a rod/reel. I am scratching my head, how did I miss this the other times. But cans and bottles are the big winner. I think they could fall out or blow out, I hope people are not throwing them out. But a car battery ... ??? LOL Thanks but no thanks.

Imagine what has been buried on bottom by silt over the years. What you see on top in that pic is just scratching the surface.

A buddy of mine found an old cast iron skillet and a old plate from the 70's....must have been someones last fish fry (guessing 20-30 years ago).

Treasure hunting time!
